I'm transitioning from being a full-time freelancer to incorporating my small design business, and honestly, the whole tax side is throwing me off. What should I be focusing on first, especially in terms of deductions and reporting? Should I get help or try to manage it myself with software?

The shift from freelance to incorporated definitely changes the game—especially with taxes. You're now dealing with corporate filings, payroll considerations, and a different approach to deducting expenses. One of the best things you can do early on is talk to someone who understands both sides. Many Accountants in Brockville, ON work with solo entrepreneurs making this exact move, so they can explain what’s worth deducting, how to keep your records clean, and even help you decide if salary or dividends make more sense. Software's great, but advice from someone who sees the big picture is worth a lot.

Honestly, most people underestimate how messy their records are until they try to file something bigger than a basic return.
