A New Age of Guild Ball Approaches… part 2

Written by Steve Cole

Hi Guild Ballers,

What are we working on? Well, we’re working on something that will change the world and life as we know it.

One thing we’ve noticed since setting up the Guild Ball Community Project 18 months ago –  Jesus, no wonder we feel exhausted all the time – is that everyone loves crossover models and everyone hates measuring stuff. Widgets everywhere, disgusted tutting when someone uses a tape measure, constant questions about threat ranges. Well, NO MORE, we say.

The playbook system is so simple, so clear, that we feel the clumsy act of measuring on the pitch detracts from the gaming experience. That’s why, starting today, we’ll start updating the OPD and all GB cards to reflect the fact that GB will now, and forever more be played on hexes. Thank goodness, no more table clutter, just nice clean simple hexes. So burn (or for a carbon zero option, recycle) your widgets. The best game in the world just got even betterer.

The hex-based Guild Ball pitch!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are delighted to announce the release of a brand-new guild as well! What could be more hex-based than a honeycomb? Nothing. So after a lengthy period of trialing them, we’re absolutely BUZZING to announce the WASP’S GUILD. Bringing everyone’s favourite picnic companion to the tabletop is the sort of big brain idea that we get paid absolutely nothing for to come up with.

But wait… there’s more! The Wasp’s Guild are a minor guild, so who are their major? Well, which guild has the biggest prick in Guild Ball on its roster? That’s right, Farmers! Sorry, I mean, which guild has the biggest prick that isn’t poultry? That’s right, Masons (hi Hammer). With such a strong thematic link Wasps will be the Mason’s crossover guild. Weird, you’d think it would be bees rather than wasps because there is a masonry bee… Oh well.

But wait… there’s even more! You loved crossover squaddies? Get ready for the game’s first crossover mascot! That’s right. It’s something we’re sure you all saw coming a mile off. Wrecker has spent a bit too much time hanging out in the alchemists’ labs and gone full Seth Brundle (let’s see how many of you get that one).

So here he is, in all of his stinging glory. WASP WRECKER! With his perfect hexagonal playbook and range of exciting new abilities he’s sure to bring a real sting to your tabletop experience. We hope you’re as excited about this as we are! GO WASPS GO!

Huh, it says ‘Beemadillo’ on his card. Weird, he looks like a wasp. Ugh, does that mean I need to rewrite this? Nah, I’m sure it’s fine if I just plow on. Never apologise! Never admit mistakes! Erm, with that mantra in mind… Bee Afraid, BEE VERY AFRAID! The Beemadillo is here!
